Rudgwick is delighted to announce its new partnership with Chesworth Rovers. The mutually beneficial arrangement will create a pathway from junior to senior football from all Chesworth sides. Rudgwicks Committee will help support the future growth of Chesworth and continue the long history of league titles and cup final successes

Chesworth Rovers was formed in 1969 by the founder Mr John Laker. John, along with other parents who had young children wanted to play a decent game of football and set up the club. Still very much active in the running of the club John sadly passed away in June 2006. It was decided that the club would still flourish as a tribute to his memory.

Rudgwick will now have two youth sections flowing into the senior section with Rudgwick Juniors already having had a superb impact on our development squad this year. No fewer than 14 ex Rudgwick Junior players made appearances in all three squads. Most played in the development squad which won the league title. A 17-year-old taking the golden boot for the first time in Jude Abraham. No small feat considering he was playing with Rudgwicks all-time leading goal scorer and outgoing Club Captian Neil Winckworth in the side.

The future for the young footballers involved in both setups is now secure with a pathway for all abilities going forward. The next steps will be to transition both youth sections into U18s and U23s in the coming seasons to offer even more football to these young players. Age should be no barrier to a good young footballer and Chesworth has a history of creating many who have gone on to have great footballing careers in the county league and above.

Rudgwick will now look to support the growth of Chesworth by creating new sides at U9-U7s if you are interested in becoming a coach, setting up a new side or helping in some other way on the committee please get in touch.
